Testing SunPatiens
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Got my first glimpse today of the new SunPatiens that are being touted in ads in Southern Living and elsewhere.
My verdict? Not sure. They’re very BIG leafed, or ‘robust’ as the magazines call them. The color selection is fairly limited too.
Are you willing to test them or are you sticking with tried and true?
They are a cross between New Guinea impatiens and seed impatiens that hold up better in the sun and humidity. They definitely look more like New Guineas. And they are priced more like New Guineas. Not cheap. Here is a link if you want to read more from their web site.
Garden writer Danny Flanders reports that these sun-loving impatiens have reaped glowing reviews the past two summers at the University of Georgia’s trial gardens in Athens.
